Capitol Mall General Use Policy

The Texas Capitol Mall is a spacious outdoor area that spans several blocks north of the Capitol and serves as the northern gateway to the Capitol Complex with public green space for visitors, state offices, and events.

  • Hours: The Capitol Mall is open to the public for use between 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • The Capitol Mall may be closed in whole or in part for special use permits and special events, grounds management and protection, public safety concerns and other maintenance or roadwork reasons, with or without notice as determined by the SPB.

Capitol Mall Events Request Process


  1. Read the Capitol Mall Policy: Visit the Capitol Mall General Use Policy Page or download the PDF version to understand the rules that apply for general usage.

  2. Check Availability: View the calendar to ensure your desired date and time are available.

  3. Submit Request Form: Complete the request form at the bottom of this page and submit it for review. If you need to submit additional documents after submitting this initial request please send as an attachment to Capitol.Events@tspb.texas.gov.

  4. Finalize Request: The SPB Capitol Events Coordinator will contact the requestor to finalize the request after it is reviewed.

Requests are processed in the order they are received.
You will be contacted by email for additional details if your request is approved or denied.
