Overview

The Veterans of the 36th Infantry, Texas National Guard Monument was erected in 1959.

The unique-shaped Texas Sunset Red Granite piece memorializes the soldiers of the 36th Infantry, Texas National Guard. The "T-Patch" represents the shoulder insignia of the unit. During World War I, the 36th Infantry freed Rheims, France. The "T-Patchers" became the first American division to land on the Europe continent during World War II during the invasion of Italy.
