Until the 1930s, the Governor officed on the first floor south wing of the building. Most of the Capitol's woodwork is oak or pine, but the original Governor's Office woodwork and furnishings are made of mahogany. The room, returned to its c. 1910 appearance, is now used by a member of the Governor's staff; the Governor offices on the second floor.
