Governor’s Public Reception Room
Overview
The Texas governor serves as the chief executive officer of the state ensuring enforcement of state laws. Thirty governors have served their terms in the current Capitol. Governors have used the Reception Room on the second floor south wing for ceremonial occasions and to greet guests. The 1990s building restoration focused on furnishings including the large marble-topped table and two plant stands and the brass chandelier that are all original to the room. The S-shaped sofa is also known as “tete-a-tete” where two people can enjoy a private conversation.
